The initial plane was designed with a V-shaped vertical stabilizer, but that was changed later on. The only Company to design one was SP Aircraft Development.
So, they set out a contract for a relatively cheap stealth fighter. The Wright Air Force initially wanted to acquire F-35s, but they couldn’t afford a significant amount of them. As more Air forces wanted to replace their old planes with fifth gen fighters, they couldn’t, as American aircraft were too expensive and Russian fighters barely exist.
